Stamatina Couture
Stamatina Vassilaras, designer of STAMATINA COUTURE was born on the 11th of August in Brooklyn, New York. As a young girl in the fashion capitol of the United States, Stamatina would hold a pencil in her hand and sketch dresses before she was even old enough to realize that this was her passion. As she pursued other avenues in life, Stamatina always felt incomplete. The years passed and as the desire to share her creativity grew, Stamatina finally decided to start her fashion studies at Katherine Gibbs College, in New York City.
After six months, Stamatina moved to Greece where her roots are from. She was always inspired by Ancient Greece and wanted to experience what it would be like to actually live in Athens. Stamatina once again started her fashion studies at Veloudakis Private Fashion College in Athens. Once the school year was over, Stamatina entered the Young Fashion Designer of the Year contest, just a few hours before the deadline. A few days later, she won a scholarship to attend IEK AKMH Private College in Athens, Greece.
During her studies, Stamatina attended Paris Fashion Week and became captured by the city’s beauty and even more determined to touch the lives of others through her designs. She moved back to the US in 2007 and within a year her dreams began to materialize. This included seeing two women win their pageant titles in Stamatina Couture gowns.
In 2010, Stamatina introduced her line, Black Pearl by Stamatina. A line so chic and simple, yet so elegant and sexy.
