Inspired by the colors, patterns and textures of nature, Erin Rossie Healy has quickly established herself among Florida’s premier fashion designers, garnering numerous print and online media mentions, both local and national including a feature in the Miami/Florida section of the August 2008 issue of Lucky plus Skirt!, Jacksonville, EU, About.com and Suite101.com. And cameras rolled a recent Erin Healy Designs fashion show for Picture This, a PBS regional television show.
“There is absolute beauty and amazing design in the colors, patterns and textures of nature,” Erin says. “I see an undeniable art in even the simplest natural occurrences, from the patterns on the back of a Brazilian rainbow boa, to the color contrasts of the Carolina wood duck, to the intricate weave of a spider’s web. Nearly everything you see in the natural world can be translated into fashion.”
Erin’s looks, described as Coco Chanel-classy with a Gwen Stefani-edginess, feature vibrant colors, flowing, water-like fabrics and clean lines, often with an unexpected touch such as a line of orchid-like embellishments on the back of a dress strap or a fan of peacock feathers artfully splayed across a bodice. First enamored with fashion as a child with a sophistication beyond her years, Erin primarily is self-taught. By age 16 she crafted custom designs for herself and her friends, shunning the trend-laden mall fare. Today, she enjoys a burgeoning clientele and fan base throughout Northeast Florida.
